Ivy

Instructor

  • Hometown: El Monte, CA

  • Inspiration for teaching: I became interested in Pilates 4 years ago when I was training very rigorous in dance and Pole dance. I was seeking a low impact revovery method that could help impvoe my muscle imbalance, releive my daily stiffness, and restore my overall mobility. I found that Pilates checked all these boxes in addition to also soothing my mind and helping me practice deep presence in class. After experiencing the benefits of Pilates, I was inspired to become a certified Pilates instructor. My “why” is simple: the benefits of Pilates are immense, and I want to help guide people through the amazing journey of building steady, low impact strength rooted in meeting the body exactly where it is at. Strength is built through consistency, not through torturing the body (:

  • Favorite Pilates move: I really love an articulated bridge. I appreciate the slowness and intention required for this movement and I absolutely love how it gently warms up the spine and awakens the body.

  • What to expect in class: Cliencts can expect a class that starts off gentle and classical, but later evolves into a more challenging creative flow with new movements to try.

  • Teaching style: Creative with a contemporary twist. I like to incorporate movements inspired by my dance and strength training backround.

  • Guilty pleasure: I like to incorporate exercise that challenge balance and stability because it gives students the opportunity to laugh at themselves and feel silly when they realize that holding a simple pose is more challenging than it ilooks. I feel like balance and stability movements awaken the inner child. I take pleasure in seeing the inner child come out during class. I love when laughter breaks silence. Pilates doesnt have to be so serious!

  • Favorite workout song: Anything Bad Bunny is usually a vibe.

  • Hobbies outside of teaching: Dancing, surfin , swimming, adventuring outdoors and sewinig.

  • Word of encouragement: “You’re stronger than you think”

  • Post-class feeling: I hope clients feel more grounded, accomplished, inspired to keep returning, and proud of their efforts.
